MOSF 2024 will run from June 23rd (arrival) to August 5th (departure).
Activity at MOSF is divided into 3 phases.
The first phase comprises the first 2 weeks. This time is dedicated to staging and music rehearsals for the operas. Days are typically from 9:30-1:30 and from 3-6:30, Monday through Saturday.
The second phase comprises weeks 3 and 4 and is dedicated to individual voice lessons, individual coachings, masterclasses and performances. The day usually starts at 9 with a masterclass. Individual coachings and lessons then go from 10-1:30 and from 3-5 Monday through Friday.
The third phase comprises weeks 5 and 6. This period is dedicated to masterclasses and coachings with guests.
Performances are in the evenings starting at the end of week 2.
The MOSF ethos is that performances are a part of your training experience and are meant to give you experience into what it means to be a lead opera performer as you dive into the staging, rehearsal and performance process.
Singers do not compete for performances at MOSF. If you are accepted for a role, you are assigned to that role. If you show up not knowing your role entirely you will automatically be assigned as a cover and will not perform the role.
Performances are either by invitation on weekdays, or open to the general public on weekends.
All singers must be at every performance. All participants sing chorus when not performing as a soloist. Consider that there are multiple casts for each opera to give opportunity to all participants; so you will be in chorus quite a bit.
The participation fee for singers is $6000 for the entire 6 weeks. This includes all studies, and activities, housing at our dorm, breakfast and lunch at the dorm, travel to and from the airport, weekly laundry service, and tourism.
You can opt for an abbreviated program. Abbreviated programs are in one week increments and cost $1200 per week.
You can opt for housing at the NH Villa San Mauro Hotel at a premium cost (extra 45 Euro per night).
